Die Zahl PI (The Number Pi with 348 Decimal Places)

160x140 cm, Acrylic on Canvas

The mathematical constant Pi, also known as the Archimedean Constant, represents the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. This ratio remains the same for all circles, regardless of their size. Pi is a transcendental and therefore also an irrational number. It cannot be expressed as a fraction of two whole numbers and has an infinite number of decimal places. This number is essential in all formulas involving circular calculations, as well as in various fields of mathematics and physics. Among the more than 60 trillion decimal places of Pi known today, the first 348 digits have been incorporated into this painting in their exact sequence.
